Al-Fatiha The Opening · Surah 1

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۝ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ۝ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۝ مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ ۝ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ۝ اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ ۝ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ

Bismillāhir Raḥmānir Raḥīm. Alḥamdu lillāhi Rabbil ʿālamīn. Ar-Raḥmānir Raḥīm. Māliki yawmid-dīn. Iyyāka naʿbudu wa iyyāka nastaʿīn. Ihdinaṣ-ṣirāṭal mustaqīm. Ṣirāṭal-ladhīna anʿamta ʿalayhim, ghayril maghḍūbi ʿalayhim wa laḍ-ḍāllīn.

In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. All praise is for Allah, Lord of all worlds — the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful — Master of the Day of Judgement. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us along the Straight Path: the path of those You have blessed, not those who have earned Your anger, nor those who have gone astray.

পরম করুণাময় অসীম দয়ালু আল্লাহর নামে। সমস্ত প্রশংসা আল্লাহর, যিনি সকল সৃষ্টিজগতের প্রতিপালক। যিনি পরম করুণাময়, অসীম দয়ালু। বিচার দিনের মালিক। আমরা কেবল তোমারই ইবাদত করি এবং কেবল তোমারই কাছে সাহায্য চাই। আমাদেরকে সরল পথ দেখাও — তাদের পথ, যাদের তুমি অনুগ্রহ দান করেছ; তাদের পথ নয় যারা ক্রোধভাজন, আর নয় পথভ্রষ্টদের পথ।

Al-Ikhlas Sincerity · Surah 112

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ۝ اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ ۝ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ۝ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

Qul huwa Allāhu aḥad. Allāhuṣ-ṣamad. Lam yalid wa lam yūlad. Wa lam yakul lahu kufuwan aḥad.

Say, He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.

বল, তিনি আল্লাহ, এক ও অদ্বিতীয়। আল্লাহ কারও মুখাপেক্ষী নন, সবাই তাঁরই মুখাপেক্ষী। তিনি কাউকে জন্ম দেননি, আর তাঁকেও জন্ম দেওয়া হয়নি। এবং তাঁর সমকক্ষ কেউ নেই।

Al-Falaq The Daybreak · Surah 113

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ۝ مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ ۝ وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ ۝ وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ ۝ وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

Qul aʿūdhu bi-Rabbil-falaq. Min sharri mā khalaq. Wa min sharri ghāsiqin idhā waqab. Wa min sharrin-naffāthāti fil-ʿuqad. Wa min sharri ḥāsidin idhā ḥasad.

Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak: from the evil of what He created; from the evil of darkness when it settles; from the evil of those who blow on knots; and from the evil of an envier when he envies.

বল, আমি আশ্রয় চাচ্ছি সকাল বেলার রব-এর, তিনি যা সৃষ্টি করেছেন তার অনিষ্ট হতে; আর অন্ধকার রাতের অনিষ্ট হতে যখন তা আচ্ছন্ন হয়ে যায়; এবং গিরায় ফুৎকারকারিণীদের অনিষ্ট হতে; এবং হিংসুকের অনিষ্ট হতে, যখন সে হিংসা করে।

An-Nas Mankind · Surah 114

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ ۝ مَلِكِ النَّاسِ ۝ إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ ۝ مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ ۝ الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ ۝ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ

Qul aʿūdhu bi-Rabbin-nās. Malikin-nās. Ilāhin-nās. Min sharril-waswāsil-khannās. Alladhī yuwaswisu fī ṣudūrin-nās. Minal-jinnati wan-nās.

Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, the Sovereign of mankind, the God of mankind — from the evil of the retreating whisperer, who whispers into the hearts of mankind, from among the jinn and mankind.

বল, আমি আশ্রয় চাচ্ছি মানুষের প্রতিপালকের, মানুষের অধিপতির, মানুষের প্রকৃত ইলাহর — সেই কুমন্ত্রণাদাতার অনিষ্ট হতে, যে নিজেকে লুকিয়ে রেখে বার বার এসে কুমন্ত্রণা দেয়; যে কুমন্ত্রণা দেয় মানুষের অন্তরে; জিনের মধ্য হতে এবং মানুষের মধ্য হতে।

Ḥasbunallāh Reliance on Allah · At-Tawbah 9:129

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ ۖ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ

Ḥasbiyallāhu lā ilāha illā huwa, ʿalayhi tawakkaltu, wa huwa Rabbul-ʿArshil-ʿAẓīm.

Allah is sufficient for me; there is no god except Him. In Him I put my trust, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.

আল্লাহ-ই আমার জন্য যথেষ্ট; তিনি ছাড়া আর কোনো সত্য মা'বুদ নেই। আমি তাঁরই উপর ভরসা করি, আর তিনি মহান আরশের রব।

Recited seven times in the morning and seven in the evening.

Rabbi-shraḥ lī ṣadrī A du'a for ease · Ta-Ha 20:25–28

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي ۝ وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي ۝ وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي ۝ يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي

Rabbi-shraḥ lī ṣadrī. Wa yassir lī amrī. Waḥlul ʿuqdatan min lisānī. Yafqahū qawlī.

My Lord, expand for me my breast, and ease for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue, so that they may understand my speech.

হে আমার পালনকর্তা! আমার বক্ষ প্রশস্ত করে দিন, এবং আমার কাজ সহজ করে দিন, এবং আমার জিহ্বা থেকে জড়তা দূর করে দিন, যাতে তারা আমার কথা বুঝতে পারে।

Du'ā of Yūnus Al-Anbiyā 21:87

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

Lā ilāha illā anta subḥānaka innī kuntu minaẓ-ẓālimīn.

There is no god but You; glory be to You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers.

আপনি ছাড়া কোনো মাবুদ নেই; আপনি পবিত্র, মহান; আমিতো সীমালঙ্ঘনকারী।

Whoever supplicates with the words of Yūnus — in whatever difficulty he is — Allah answers him. [Tirmidhī 3505]

Yā Ḥayyu yā Qayyūm for severe distress

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ

Yā Ḥayyu yā Qayyūm, bi-raḥmatika astaghīth.

O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all — by Your mercy I seek relief.

হে চিরঞ্জীব! হে চিরস্থায়ী! আপনার রহমতের মাধ্যমে আপনার নিকটে সাহায্য চাই।

The du'ā the Messenger ﷺ read in the hardest difficulty. [Tirmidhī; Mustadrak al-Ḥākim; Mishkāt]

Against severe trial jahd al-balā

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ جَهْدِ الْبَلَاءِ، وَدَرَكِ الشَّقَاءِ، وَسُوءِ الْقَضَاءِ، وَشَمَاتَةِ الْأَعْدَاءِ

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min jahdil-balāʾ, wa darakish-shaqāʾ, wa sūʾil-qaḍāʾ, wa shamātatil-aʿdāʾ.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from severe affliction, from being overtaken by wretchedness, from an evil decree, and from the gloating of enemies.

হে আল্লাহ, অবশ্যই আমি তোমার নিকট কঠিন দুরবস্থা, দুর্ভাগ্যের নাগাল, মন্দভাগ্য এবং দুশমনের হাসি থেকে রক্ষা কামনা করছি।

Sayyidul Istighfār the master supplication for forgiveness

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَىٰ عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ

Allāhumma anta Rabbī lā ilāha illā anta, khalaqtanī wa anā ʿabduka, wa anā ʿalā ʿahdika wa waʿdika mā-staṭaʿtu, aʿūdhu bika min sharri mā ṣanaʿtu, abūʾu laka bi-niʿmatika ʿalayya, wa abūʾu bi-dhanbī faghfir lī fa-innahu lā yaghfirudh-dhunūba illā anta.

O Allah, You are my Lord; there is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I keep to Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil I have done. I acknowledge Your favour upon me, and I acknowledge my sin — so forgive me, for none forgives sins but You.

হে আল্লাহ! তুমিই আমার রব, তুমি ছাড়া কোনো মাবুদ নেই। তুমি আমাকে সৃষ্টি করেছ, আর আমি তোমার বান্দা। আমি সাধ্যমতো তোমার সাথে কৃত অঙ্গীকার ও প্রতিশ্রুতির উপর আছি। আমি আমার কৃতকর্মের অনিষ্ট থেকে তোমার আশ্রয় চাই। আমার প্রতি তোমার নিয়ামত স্বীকার করছি এবং আমার গুনাহও স্বীকার করছি; সুতরাং আমাকে ক্ষমা করো, কেননা তুমি ছাড়া কেউ গুনাহ ক্ষমা করতে পারে না।

Read morning and evening. Whoever says it with conviction by day and dies that day, or by night and dies that night, will be of the people of Paradise. [Bukhārī 6306]

Astaghfirullāh a short, complete istighfār

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

Astaghfirullāha alladhī lā ilāha illā huwal-Ḥayyul-Qayyūmu wa atūbu ilayh.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah, besides whom there is no god — the Ever-Living, the Sustainer — and I turn to Him in repentance.

আমি সেই আল্লাহর কাছে ক্ষমা চাই, যিনি ছাড়া কোনো মাবুদ নেই; তিনি চিরঞ্জীব, চিরস্থায়ী — আর আমি তাঁরই দিকে তওবা করছি।

His sins are forgiven, even if he had fled from the battlefield. [Abū Dāwūd 1517; Tirmidhī 3577]

The four weighty phrases said three times

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ، وَرِضَا نَفْسِهِ، وَزِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ، وَمِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ

Subḥānallāhi wa bi-ḥamdihi, ʿadada khalqihi, wa riḍā nafsihi, wa zinata ʿarshihi, wa midāda kalimātihi.

Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him — as many as the number of His creation, as much as pleases Him, as heavy as His Throne, and as endless as the ink of His words.

আমি আল্লাহ তা'আলার প্রশংসাসমেত পবিত্রতা ঘোষণা করছি — তাঁর সৃষ্টিকুলের সংখ্যার পরিমাণ, তিনি সন্তুষ্ট হওয়া পরিমাণ, তাঁর আরশের ওজন সমপরিমাণ এবং তাঁর কথা লিপিবদ্ধ করার কালির পরিমাণ।

Said three times, these outweigh all the remembrance of the whole day. [Muslim 2726]

On waking in the night and a du'ā that is answered

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ، وَلَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ، رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي

Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr. Subḥānallāh, wal-ḥamdu lillāh, wa lā ilāha illallāh, wallāhu akbar, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāhil-ʿAliyyil-ʿAẓīm. Rabbighfir lī.

There is no god but Allah alone, without partner; His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is capable of all things. Glory be to Allah; all praise is for Allah; there is no god but Allah; Allah is the Greatest; there is no might nor power except with Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent. My Lord, forgive me.

আল্লাহ ছাড়া কোনো ইলাহ নেই, তিনি একক, তাঁর কোনো শরিক নেই; রাজত্ব তাঁরই, প্রশংসাও তাঁরই, আর তিনি সব কিছুর উপর ক্ষমতাবান। আল্লাহ পবিত্র, সমস্ত প্রশংসা আল্লাহর, আল্লাহ ছাড়া কোনো ইলাহ নেই, আল্লাহ সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ; আর আল্লাহর সাহায্য ছাড়া কোনো উপায় ও শক্তি নেই, যিনি সুমহান ও মহীয়ান। হে আমার রব, আমাকে ক্ষমা করো।

Whoever says this on waking at night is forgiven; if he supplicates, he is answered; if he makes wuḍū and prays, his prayer is accepted. [Bukhārī — Fatḥul Bārī 1154]

Freedom from debt sufficiency by the lawful

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

Allāhumma-kfinī bi-ḥalālika ʿan ḥarāmik, wa aghninī bi-faḍlika ʿamman siwāk.

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful against what You have forbidden, and enrich me by Your bounty so that I need none besides You.

হে আল্লাহ! তুমি তোমার হারাম বস্তু হতে বাঁচিয়ে তোমার হালাল রিযিক দ্বারা আমাকে পরিতুষ্ট দান করো, এবং তোমার অনুগ্রহ দ্বারা তুমি ব্যতীত অন্য সকলের থেকে আমাকে অমুখাপেক্ষী করে দাও।

Asking for Allah's love ḥubbullāh

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ حُبَّكَ، وَحُبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّكَ، وَالْعَمَلَ الَّذِي يُبَلِّغُنِي حُبَّكَ. اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ حُبَّكَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ نَفْسِي وَأَهْلِي وَمِنَ الْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ

Allāhumma innī asʾaluka ḥubbaka, wa ḥubba man yuḥibbuka, wal-ʿamalal-ladhī yuballighunī ḥubbak. Allāhumma-jʿal ḥubbaka aḥabba ilayya min nafsī wa ahlī wa minal-māʾil-bārid.

O Allah, I ask You for Your love, the love of those who love You, and the deeds that will bring me to Your love. O Allah, make Your love dearer to me than myself, my family, and cold water.

হে আল্লাহ! আমি তোমার নিকট তোমার ভালোবাসা এবং যে তোমাকে ভালোবাসে তার ভালোবাসা প্রার্থনা করি, এবং এমন আমল করার সামর্থ্য চাই যা তোমার ভালোবাসা লাভ পর্যন্ত পৌঁছে দেবে। হে আল্লাহ! তোমার ভালোবাসাকে আমার নিজের জান-মাল, পরিবার-পরিজন ও ঠান্ডা পানির চেয়েও বেশি প্রিয় করে দাও।

On leaving the house tawakkul

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ

Bismillāh, tawakkaltu ʿalallāh, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh.

In the name of Allah; I place my trust in Allah; there is no might nor power except with Allah.

আল্লাহর নামে (বের হচ্ছি)। আল্লাহর উপর ভরসা করলাম। আর আল্লাহর সাহায্য ছাড়া (পাপ থেকে বাঁচার) কোনো উপায় এবং (সৎকাজ করার) কোনো শক্তি কারও নেই।

The Verse of the Throne after every obligatory prayer

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwal-Ḥayyul-Qayyūm. Lā taʾkhudhuhu sinatun wa lā nawm. Lahu mā fis-samāwāti wa mā fil-arḍ. Man dhal-ladhī yashfaʿu ʿindahu illā bi-idhnih. Yaʿlamu mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum, wa lā yuḥīṭūna bi-shayʾin min ʿilmihi illā bimā shāʾ. Wasiʿa kursiyyuhus-samāwāti wal-arḍ, wa lā yaʾūduhu ḥifẓuhumā, wa huwal-ʿAliyyul-ʿAẓīm.

Allah — there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what lies before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Magnificent.

আল্লাহ — তিনি ছাড়া কোনো ইলাহ নেই; তিনি চিরঞ্জীব, সর্বসত্তার ধারক। তন্দ্রা ও নিদ্রা তাঁকে স্পর্শ করে না। আসমান ও জমিনে যা কিছু আছে সবই তাঁর। কে আছে যে তাঁর অনুমতি ছাড়া তাঁর কাছে সুপারিশ করবে? তাদের সামনে ও পেছনে যা কিছু আছে তিনি জানেন; আর তারা তাঁর জ্ঞানের কিছুই আয়ত্ত করতে পারে না, তবে তিনি যতটুকু চান। তাঁর কুরসি আসমান ও জমিন পরিব্যাপ্ত করে আছে, আর এ দুটির রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ তাঁকে ক্লান্ত করে না। তিনিই সুমহান, মহীয়ান।

Whoever recites it after every obligatory prayer, nothing stands between him and Paradise except death. [Nasāʾī 9848]

Three practices and two weekly surahs

• Āyatul Kursī after each obligatory prayer — প্রতি ফরজ নামাজের পর (১ বার).
• Sūrah al-Mulk (67) every night — it intercedes for its reciter until he is forgiven. সূরা মূলক প্রতি রাতে (১ বার). [Abū Dāwūd 1400; Tirmidhī 2891]
• Sayyidul Istighfār morning and evening — সকাল-বিকাল ১ বার করে.
• Sūrah al-Kahf (18) on Friday — light shines for the reader until the next Friday; memorising its first ten verses guards against the trial of the Dajjāl. [Muslim 809; Abū Dāwūd 4323]
• The last two verses of Sūrah al-Baqarah (2:285–286) at night — they will suffice him. [Bukhārī 5009; Muslim 807–808]

Nothing changes the decree except du'ā — so ask abundantly. [Tirmidhī 2139]
